Abstract

Stunting refers to a condition where a child’s height is shorter than the average height for their age, caused by prolonged nutritional deficiencies during the first 1,000 days of life. In adulthood, children who experience stunting are vulnerable to non-communicable diseases such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and kidney failure, as well as a potential reduction in intelligence levels by 5–11 points. In addition to nutritional factors, stunting is also caused by a lack of knowledge among the community, particularly pregnant adolescents, mothers of toddlers, and posyandu cadres. According to available data, stunting cases in Sidoarjo Regency increased by 1.3 percent. Previously, there was also an increase in 2022, reaching 16.1 percent. Based on primary data from SMD 2023 in Wonoayu Village, it was reported that out of 1,230 households, 11 out of 261 infants, toddlers, and preschool children were found to be stunted, with the majority categorized as short stature (81.8%).This community empowerment program aims to improve the knowledge of adolescents, posyandu cadres, and the community through health promotion accompanied by the Community Movement to Prevent Stunting in Wonoayu Village, Sidoarjo. The program consisted of counseling sessions targeting pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, mothers of toddlers, and women of reproductive age. The focus was on exclusive breastfeeding, nutritious complementary feeding, and monitoring child growth and development. The program emphasized increasing community knowledge in the fields of education, health, and economy, as well as strengthening community independence and health education to address stunting among adolescents, moving towards Zero Stunting.
